What We Do House of Seeds Ltd Uganda
House of Seeds Ltd. is Uganda’s leading professional vegetable seed company. It is based on a simple but powerful idea: every grower should be able to get reliable access to high-quality seeds at a reasonable price.
What began in 2010 as a small, innovative project under Cycas International has grown into a fully independent seed company with a rapidly rising reputation across the country. Today, House of Seeds Ltd is trusted by growers of all sizes — from smallholder growers to large-scale commercial producers — for both our superior seed varieties and hands-on agronomic support.
From the outset, we understood that Uganda’s diverse agro-ecological zones demand seed varieties that are tested and proven under real growing conditions. Field trials and demonstration plots are therefore essential to our day-to-day operations. Through these trials, growers can see for themselves the impact that high-quality seeds and appropriate agronomic practices can have on yields, food security, and profitability.
We became the sole Ugandan distributor for an internationally renowned brand Monarch Seeds, as part of our journey and proudly introduced commercial vegetable seed imports from the Netherlands. These partnerships ensure our clients benefit from cutting-edge breeding innovations and a broad portfolio of resilient, high-performance vegetable varieties.
To empower Uganda’s vegetable producers with high-quality seeds and expert support, enabling them to increase productivity, profitability, and access to local and export markets.
House of Seeds is building a smart distribution network that will reach every district in Uganda as we expand. Our goal is to make top-tier vegetable seeds accessible to all — helping growers grow healthier food, earn better incomes, and contribute to a more sustainable and competitive agricultural sector.
Vegetable production is more than growing — it’s a pathway to better nutrition, stronger rural livelihoods, and food safety for both local and international consumers. House of Seeds is proud to be part of that transformation.
The Company’s milestones
Our Journey
2010 Planting the Vision
House of Seeds Ltd was founded with a mission to provide high-quality vegetable seeds to Ugandan growers. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a commitment to agricultural transformation through access, innovation, and farmer empowerment..
2014 Expanding Reach Through Trials
In partnership with ZOA, we conducted large-scale vegetable trials across Nwoya and West Nile districts. These efforts introduced growers to improved hybrid tomato and onion varieties, setting the stage for broader regional distribution.
2025 Scaling Impact Across Uganda
We’re now setting up a new trial and demonstration center in Kapchorwa in collaboration with AKORION. This marks the next phase of our growth: expanding seed access, providing real-time agronomic support, and deepening our presence across Eastern Uganda and beyond.
2012 Building the Foundation
We partnered with early farmer groups and district extension officers to begin regional outreach. Our initial seed trials focused on identifying varieties that could thrive in Uganda’s diverse agro-climates.
2018 Empowering Youth & Training Farmers
Together with SOLIDARIDAD, we launched youth-led nursery hubs in Central Uganda, providing both training and commercial seedling production. These centers bridged the gap for growers needing ready-to-plant, high-quality seedlings.
